I wanted to like this book, but the ableism (Wolff uses words like "lame," "retard," and "cripple" more times than is necessary) was OUT OF CONTROL. Using these words to describe one's own ridiculous behavior isn't just ableist and distracting, but it's lazy writing. As a person with a disability, I found Wolff's equations of being disabled with her own childish behavior extremely offensive.
