This book made me angry because it was so poorly written - such an interesting story made into something so flat and annoying. The narrator was not trustworthy - in high school lit, we would have called him an "unreliable narrator." One of the faults...more

The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs

At its best when Jacobs was interviewing people and ruminating on faith, it's value and the different interpretations people give it. At its worst when he is actually following the biblical laws. It seemed kitschy and forced.

Love that he included paintings in the book. But, I didn't think this one had as much heart as his other novels. Usually his main characters grow into themselves by the end if his books. In this one, she just outgrew herself.
