I'm taking an ASL class right now and I found the history of ASL interesting. I personally find watching a person (live or in videos) most useful when learning though because movement and palm orientation is very important and a book can't demonstrat...more

Phewwww. This is a tough topic. I'm not comfortable rating it. It was definitely a news story you've heard but never a story I've read in fiction from this perspective. Very graphic. Non-repentant. Often made me feel slimy but I couldn't stop reading...more

Sarah Drew is a great narrator. Interesting concept and nice to read something like this that isn't dystopian but I mostly was just shaking my head at these kids' antics.
More of Melissa's books…
Mindy Kaling
“In my mind, the sexiest thing in the world is the feeling that you’re wanted.”
Mindy Kaling, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

L.M. Montgomery
“Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.”
L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Jennifer Egan
“The pause makes you think the song will end. And then the song isn't really over, so you're relieved. But then the song does actually end, because every song ends, obviously, and THAT. TIME. THE. END. IS. FOR. REAL.”
Jennifer Egan, A Visit from the Goon Squad

Cheryl Strayed
“We are all entitled to our opinions and religious beliefs, but we are not entitled to make shit up and then use the shit we made up to oppress other people.”
Cheryl Strayed, Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar

Cheryl Strayed
“Of course you want someone special to love you. A majority of the people who write to me inquire about how they can get the same thing... Unique as every letter is, the point each writer reaches is the same: I want love and I'm afraid I'll never get it.

It's hard to answer those letters because I'm an advice columnist, not a fortune-teller. I have words instead of a crystal ball. I can't say when you'll get love or how you'll find it or even promise that you will. I can only say you are worthy of it and that it's never too much to ask for it.”
Cheryl Strayed
