Sometimes I'm not entirely sure what is going on when I'm reading The Raven Cycle books. I guess they would merit a re-read to get the full-effect. At the same time, the books are still enjoyable.

School has resumed in Blue Lily, Lily Blue, but Blue'

Raging Star wraps up the series, albeit on a weaker and messier note than I would have liked. I'm not sure what was so disappointing about this installment, but it may have to do with the tangent story lines that were never fully resolved. (view spoi ...more

I'm sad it's done, but I was quite happy with how everything turned out in the end.

The Grisha trilogy has been one of the better young adult fantasy novels I've read in quite awhile. There was plenty of world-building, plenty of character developmen

Please don't suck, please don't suck...

Update: It didn't suck! It was actually really amazing and completely what I was hoping for. Veronica Mars fans are going to love this one, and more so if they get the Kristen Bell narrated audio book, I imagine

Khanh (Clowns, Nightmares, and Bunnies) is on page 50 of Til Death: Oh jesus, we have insta-sparks.

The second we touched, a spark zinged up my arm.

“Ye-aw!” I jumped out of my seat.

Dammit.

Hmm. The ending felt a bit rushed. All of the major events happened in the last 5% of the novel or so. It felt like the major villain, who was set up as this terrifying figure, was dealt with very anti-climatically. And the ending, while not complete ...more

Khanh (Clowns, Nightmares, and Bunnies)
Khanh (Clowns, Nightmares, and Bunnies) is on page 125 of 448 of A Mad, Wicked Folly: So there's a love triangle. Yay.

So this book has an aspiring feminist who looks like she might be getting into the suffragette woman. Which totally explains the fact that she wants to get married so she can use her husband's money to do what she wants.

Ok.

And honey, nobody MADE you take your clothes off to be painted. You did. Your clothes did not fly off on their own.

“Anybody that ties you to a chair at gunpoint is a bad guy. Do I really need to explain this?”

“If a man has to say trust me, Gogu conveyed, it's a sure sign you cannot. Trust him, that is. Trust is a thing you know without words.”
Juliet Marillier, Wildwood Dancing

“We now play a permanent game of I-am-crazier-and-scarier-than-you. And in that game, my mother is our secret weapon.”

J.R.R. Tolkien
“Faerie is a perilous land, and in it are pitfalls for the unwary and dungeons for the overbold...The realm of fairy-story is wide and deep and high and filled with many things: all manner of beasts and birds are found there; shoreless seas and stars uncounted; beauty that is an enchantment, and an ever-present peril; both joy and sorrow as sharp as swords. In that realm a man may, perhaps, count himself fortunate to have wandered, but its very richness and strangeness tie the tongue of a traveller who would report them. And while he is there it is dangerous for him to ask too many questions, lest the gates should be shut and the keys be lost.”
J.R.R. Tolkien

“If I was good at marketing, I’d spin you an empty story that sounds profound. But the truth is that we’re all just stumbling around in the dark. Sometimes we hit something terrible.”
Susan Ee, Angelfall
