I really dislike books that distort historical fact. Case in point, The Boy in Stripped Pajamas. Completely distorted the geography of Auschwitz. I tend to always go to trade books rather than mass market. From there, believe it or not, I look at the cover. If it looks like there was a lot of thought put in the cover's artwork, I'll pick it up and read the back cover's blurb. But, as one who has a book review site (WARNING: plug for www.alvahsbooks.com) I go straight to the source: the publisher's website and see what's new and interesting.
