The new installment in the Meg Langslow series is just as fun as the rest. Meg’s brother has gotten her involved in extreme croquet and that has resulted in murder. While Meg tries to solve the crime, the regular case of relatives get involved and a work crew continues fixing the house. (Meg and her fiancée have moved into the barn) In typical Andrews fashion, multiple things are going on and all will have the reader laughing. If you have read the series, you are in for another treat. If you haven’t found these books yet, start at the beginning with Murder with Peacocks....less

When freelance writer Jaine Austen has a chance to write advertising copy for an upscale boutique she gets more than just a writing job. Using her amateur detective skills she attempts to solve the murder before becoming the next victim! Mixed with a decent mystery is the unique character of Jaine Austen. A single woman who likes to eat, enjoys comfortable clothes over fashion and isn’t really looking for a man. A fun series....less

A calico cat is looking for a place to have her kittens. She knows the house is not safe but the song of the old hound that lives there calls to her. The kittens will start them all on a path of danger and evil.
The book interweaves 2 stories. The animals and a story that is thousands of years old of mythical creatures that can change from human to animal.
Juv. Fic but for older children. Fairly dark.

Can a little thing really change your life? The day that Jenny stops to pick up a penny certainly does. Because the chain of events that Jenny starts ends up thwarting a robbery, the young teen lands a job working for Miss Shaw in her jewelry shop. This leads to a period of freedom that allows Jenny to experience enough love and connection to others that she can open up to the return of those things. And, for Jenny, that changes everything. You won’t look at a penny the same way for a long time.
A nice work of fiction. Likeable characters and while the story line can be harsh at times you get the feeling that Jenny will be alright in the end.

You could call it chick lit that has grown up a bit or a cross between chick lit and meaty fiction, this book doesn’t quite fit in either subcategory but will appeal to readers of both. The Friday Night Knitting Club gives us a half dozen strong, interesting women who happen to each be at crossroads. They come together to knit, talk and share company and through this make relationships that help them conquer this next challenge of life. Lost loves return, new loves make themselves known, marriages flounder, careers are ended and started; all things that happen in life. But these women have each other as well as a love of knitting to help them through. If you knit, you will feel like one of the club. If you don’t, you’ll feel like rushing out to learn! ...less

"The authors explore 7 or 8 concepts to see how they relate to the world. For example, “Do real estate agents work as hard selling your hose as they do their own?” “What impact does a parent have on a child’s success?” Fascinating book.

When Jaine Austen meets another woman in the changing room at Bargain Barn she thinks she has found a kindred soul. Pam is someone who shares Jaine’s love of high calorie food, a few drinks, and doesn’t look like a super model in appearance conscious LA. Even better, Pam introduces Jaine to the PMS Club whose members are a fun group of women and one gay man. But with the murder of one member the group begins to fall apart. In trying to solve the crime, Jaine discovers that everyone had a reason to commit murder.
This is a fun, light mystery. 5th in the series. If you haven’t started the series yet try the first one, This Pen for Hire.
