How nice, they cut half of what I was saying. Greaaat.
I´ve finished this book a couple of days ago, and it really got to me.
It is a bit slow in the beggining, and I was not particularly curious about the science fiction factor (though I have to admit I really enjoyed it), what kept me going was the "To Mom, who taught me that love is the best part of any story" line. I don´t generally like love stories, but it seems Meyer is pretty good at them.
Quite surprising scenes that will make you despise your own species and worship these Souls. Then quickly a few humans will step up and you´ll believe there´s hope for us somehow - but not before you internally curse some of the characters.
It´s a beautiful novel, with quite decent writing and a terrific story. It will make you laugh, cry and hope - trust me on this one.
Also, if you have read the Twilight saga, you will notice similarities in the stories. ]]>

Yep. It was a while since I last read a Meg Cabot book. Or at least openly.
And I have to say, no matter what the story is, she always writes in the most beautiful hypnotising way. My friends and I are planning on saving up to buy her 9-year-old's book (sue us, it's cute).
However, two things really bother me about this novel. One of them is that Emerson never EVER displays any sign of missing her old body, and - eventhough I'm not an ubber teenage model - I think every girl should be at least a BIT attached to her own body, especially if it was goddamn cremated. But maybe I'm just the girl who see the empty thing. The other problem is that as you go on, the story becomes a bit more intricated, she is trying to be friends with her friend again and blablabla, and you notice that eventhough she's not even close to achieving that, the book's pages are ending. It has a goddamn sequel. Which is more or less the ending of this book. So now I've gotta read Being Nikki to forget about the whole story. Only it hasn't launched in Brazil yet. Not even the goddamn original version. Which means I gotta wait and keep on asking bug-eyed bookstore people whether it has come up or not. Every Saturday.
