I never could finish the Work and the Glory series by this author, because of his smarmy writing style. This book was better though, with real thought-provoking metaphores on free agency, and the will of man overcoming prisons in life.
This, all wrapped in a great sci-fi container of cerebral implants, and Big Brother-esque monitoring systems.
Oh, and a love story too. I loved it!...less

This was a great little read. It's about a group of kids, forced to grow up too fast as they are trained to become fighters against malicious aliens. Ender, the main character, is mistreated, snubbed, taunted and run through the wringer to serve purposes of the powers that be.
It has a nice twist at the end, which many will see coming, but still gives us something to chew on.
This is my first Orson Card book, and I will definitely read more....less

This book has a very vertical niche audience that it would appeal to. If you have assets to protect: real estate, collections, estate items, this book is a fantastic read. In particular, it helps you distinguish fact from fiction, legitimate from scam, and determine your asset protection strategies and needs in an expose type of manner. Mark tends toward the dramatic (I have attended his lectures), but his material is of highest quality....less

The third and final book of the trilogy. I loved this book. We learn about the ticking clock, peter's shadow, the fate of the Peter / Darling relationships, and many other loose ends are neatly tied up, including Peter's missing family.
I would recommend this book, and in fact the whole trilogy to anyone that knows a little about the history of Peter Pan. Swashbuckling Scullduggery, adventures, magic, mystical creatures, and Starstuff.
If you want to know what starstuff is, you have to read the books. Suffice it to say that starstuff is what makes the whole imaginative tale of Peter Pan explainable. Not believable, mind you, but explainable.
Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson have created a great and memorable adventure here....less

The second book in the trilogy, this book is definitely a "middle book". It leaves you hanging, wanting the third book. The plot takes many twists, and the good guys stay ahead of the bad guys by inches for much of the book.
Grippingly riveting, this book makes very little progress toward the legend of Peter Pan, and instead follows events on a tangent that exciting in their own way.
Only three stars because I felt the book meandered a little too much....less

The first in three installments covering the events that led up to Peter Pan becoming the flying pirate-fighting boy that we all love. In this book, we learn the origin of Peter, Captain Hook, fairy dust, the lost boys, Neverland, mermaids, the crocodile, not growing up, Wendy and flying abilities.
This book was well-written, and I could not put it down. Although much of the plot was contrived, this prequel succeeds in putting forth an explanation of the events leading up to Peter in Neverland. I loved it. A little violence and innuendo might make this book a little too "grown up" for pre-teens....less
