To read it is to be reminded of how it's like to be a teenager. Bittersweet and beautiful. I believe I should have read Fangirl after Eleanor & Park. One would break my heart, the other would heal it.

The first and the best of the Sprawl trilogy. A favourite book, not only on my sci-fi list. Unfortunately I had not read it before watching Matrix. If I had, I'm sure I would not have loved Matrix that much. Matrix didn't drink from Neuromancer only ...more

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

This is one of the best YA books I've read in a long, long time. It's nothing like the bastardized NA books flooding the feeds lately. This is a wonderful coming of age story about a girl with some emotional instabilities (we all had the..." Read more of this review »

Read this in three days. Quite enjoyable but since I usually prefer fantasy worlds full of detailed descriptions, languages and so on, it didn't make a huge impression on me.

Short and full of half told past stories, this book is really engaging. During the entire reading you can feel the tension building up, a sense of boiling, as the people in the pueblo seem to predict a catastrophe. The parallels with the Colombian po ...more

Charlotte Brontë
“Do you think I am an automaton? — a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! — I have as much soul as you — and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at God's feet, equal — as we are!”
Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

Henry van Dyke
“Time is
Too Slow for those who Wait,
Too Swift for those who Fear,
Too Long for those who Grieve,
Too Short for those who Rejoice;
But for those who Love,
Time is not.”
Henry van Dyke, Music and Other Poems

Patrick Rothfuss
“Words are pale shadows of forgotten names. As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.”
Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind

Douglas Adams
“If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Fyodor Dostoyevsky
“To go wrong in one's own way is better then to go right in someone else's.”
Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment
