Ironically enough, I read this on my own honeymoon...though thankfully I was not left at the altar. ;) I like living vicariously through travelogues like this, so I enjoyed it quite a lot. The story became less interesting towards the end as it became apparent that the brothers were no longer "roughing it" but rather enjoying the success that came with getting stories and pictures published. Still, it was well written and a fun look at many different places in the world.(less)

I love Dooce.com and have read it for years. There are many stories in the book that are repeated from what Heather's written over the years on the blog -- and I expected that. But I had hoped that the book would read more like, well, a BOOK. Instead, it still reads more like a series of blog posts strung together and doesn't flow as well as it could.
Heather's writing hasn't changed, though, so if you like her blog, you'll like her book. (less)

I listened to the unabridged copy while driving to/from Thanksgiving. Gladwell's books are often controversial because he tends to present only one side -- HIS side -- of an argument and gloss over anything that doesn't jive with his view. That said, the guy knows how to write and how to tell a story. His examples of why our success may be due to random uncontrollable factors like birthdate, family upbrining, and cultural background never fail to make me think "huh...that's interesting!"(less)
