i loved fight club. i haven't been able to get into any of his fiction since (his two non-fiction works were great).
i read this one and it was amazing. it is written like an oral biography of someone- a collection of interviews from multiple sources- and resultingly the plot exposition is very exciting. i would argue that the entirety of the plot summation revolves around 4 or 5 very well crafted sentances in the interviews with 3-4 of the main speakers in the book. it was great to read and the plot really just wraps itself up in the end and makes a great deal of sense out of what looked before to be disconnected and random. ...less

this book is so huge and contains so much, it is impossible to give it more than 3 stars. there is plenty here to warrant 5 stars and enough in it to warrant only one or two.
that being said though, the collection as a whole is exceptional in scope and breadth. definately a must for any counterculturalist or psuedo-cultural revolutionary. ...less

this book was AWESOME. it had everything. Lost tribes of Angels, gonstic gospel knowledge, historical fiction, H.P. Lovecraft as a character in the book, a twisted plot I didn't see all the way through until it came about at the end. Uber-rich Satanists... you name it. WOW!
I mean sure, not high-brow fiction but one HELL of a joyride through the occult and early American. ...less
