"The story line reminds me of The Library at Mount Char, but more comedy than horror. I'm determined to finish it, it's not a favorite but it's interesting." Jun 09, 2016 10:22PM

"I'm on CD 2 and it's awesome, I can't believe I've never read this but I haven't seen the entire movie either. The book is much more enthralling. I'd tried watching the movie years ago but it just didn't interest me. Looking forward to more of this one :D" Jun 09, 2016 10:16PM

"OK so I'm only 2 hours from the end, finally, and the author's still talking about the way the iPhone functions. Like, in extensive detail. Way too much detail for an autobiography. I'd hoped that this would be about Steve Jobs, not a play by play for Apple products. Two more hours left, though, and I'm ready to end this one." May 24, 2016 07:59AM

Kate Atkinson
“Her heart swelled with the high holiness of it all. Imminence was all around. She was both warrior and shining spear. She was a sword glinting in the depths of night, a lance of light piercing the darkness. There would be no mistakes this time.”
Kate Atkinson, Life After Life

Kate Atkinson
“He was born a politician.
No, Ursula thought, he was born a baby, like everyone else. And this is what he has chosen to become.”
Kate Atkinson, Life After Life

Ernesto Che Guevara
“Many will call me an adventurer, and that I am...only one of a different sort: one who risks his skin to prove his truths.”
Ernesto Che Guevara

John Gardner
“Like other kinds of intelligence, the storyteller's is partly
natural, partly trained. It is composed of several qualities, most
of which, in normal people, are signs of either immaturity or
incivility: wit (a tendency to make irreverent connections);
obstinacy and a tendency toward churlishness (a refusal to
believe what all sensible people know is true); childishness (an
apparent lack of mental focus and serious life purpose, a fondness
for daydreaming and telling pointless lies, a lack of proper
respect, mischievousness, an unseemly propensity for crying
over nothing); a marked tendency toward oral or anal fixation
or both (the oral manifested by excessive eating, drinking,
smoking, and chattering; the anal by nervous cleanliness and
neatness coupled with a weird fascination with dirty jokes);
remarkable powers of eidetic recall, or visual memory (a usual
feature of early adolescence and mental retardation); a strange
admixture of shameless playfulness and embarrassing earnestness,
the latter often heightened by irrationally intense feelings
for or against religion; patience like a cat's; a criminal streak of
cunning; psychological instability; recklessness, impulsiveness,
and improvidence; and finally, an inexplicable and incurable
addiction to stories, written or oral, bad or good.”
John Gardner, On Becoming a Novelist

Kate Atkinson
“You must never believe everything they say about a person. Generally speaking, most of it will be lies, half-truths at best.”
Kate Atkinson, Life After Life
