"This was a very heart-warming book with a tragic twist at the very end. In fact, this whole book got a little intense but deffinetly a page turner. The reason I gave it a two was because it didnt draw me in 100% of the time.

After watching "Lost boys", a documentary about young, male, sudanese refugees, I was really able to make the connections between the two. Through the eyes of a young black-skinned man from the Darfur region of Sudan we get perspectives that are otherwise impossible for most of us Americans. In a Kenyan refugee camp he is struck by the caste-levels among some of the world's poorest. In the Kenyan capitol he is confused watching a Hollywood film, unable to confidently tell real from Hollywood magic. It saddens me that they must see America through hollywood....less

I saw the the movie jarhead, but i simply loved the book. In a sense, they were the same thing with slight differences. It's a book about a marine who fights, well actually there's not a lot of fighting, during the first gulf war, thats the one when Bush senior was president. So yeah, its good and interesting. It isn't that complicated so its a good light read. It gives a really detailed description of life in the marines and really explains why Bush is doing what hes doing today....less
