This was the first Orson Scott Card book I ever read. It pulls you in and before it's over, you feel like you've lived the main character's life right along with him...from childhood to old age. Beautiful, lyrical and intense.

Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser
"I can't believe I am actually trying to read this again. This is an oft-flung book, which has fair aerodynamics and, the hardcover copy of which makes a satisfying "thunk" as it hits the wall."
