This book lived up to it's name. It dragged on forever. The movie chose to just portray the first half of the book, and that part was quite good. But from there it just kept going and going, largely, it seemed to me without reason. The characters were poorly intertwined, and while many could have been interesting, they were replaced just as we were becoming interested in them with a new segment very tangentially related to the one before and the story as a whole....less

I really liked this book, and the prequel, however, a few things about them bugged me. First the characters nearly all fit into the good or bad piles quite easily. And those piles were too well divided by whether they were progressively pushing for change or conservative.
But really, both books are fantastic books, very well researched and with strong story lines....less
