Besides fishing and casting, I love reading literature, history, physics and philosophy. (I hope I don't sound like too much of an intellectual.) I also love listening to music, collecting vinyl records, watching college football and playoff hockey, and - I say this reluctantly but honestly - smoking cigars, now and then, of course.

My favorite sports hero is Wayne Gretzky. (I served him and many of the Oilers years and years ago when I was a bartender. Wayne, unlike myself back then, was so, so humble.)

My favorite literature heroes are Don Quixote and Hamlet. Yes, they too had trouble making peace with the world, so on that issue I'll never be alone.
