Julia Julia said: "Slow going right now.

I'm sort of enjoying the writing style as its so different from the usual urban fantasy style, but it does drag some. I'm not sure if the author is doing it deliberately to build atmosphere or if he just likes this style.

Terry Pratchett
“I don't hold with paddlin' with the occult," said Granny firmly. "Once you start paddlin' with the occult you start believing in spirits, and when you start believing in spirits you start believing in demons, and then before you know where you are you're believing in gods. And then you're in trouble."
"But all them things exist," said Nanny Ogg.
"That's no call to go around believing in them. It only encourages 'em.”
Terry Pratchett, Lords and Ladies

Neil Gaiman
“Someone killed my Mother and my Father and my Sister?"
"Yes, someone did."
"A Man?"
"A Man."
"Which means," said Bod, "you're asking the wrong question."
Silas raised an eyebrow. "How so?"
"Well," said Bod. "If I go outside in the world, the question isn't who will keep me safe from him?"
"No?"
"No. It's who will keep him safe from me?”
Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book

Graham Parke
“I'm looking into my past lives. I'm convinced some of them still owe me money.”
Graham Parke, Unspent Time

Margaret Mead
“For the very first time the young are seeing history being made before it is censored by their elders.”
Margaret Mead

Thomas Carlyle
“The battle that never ends is the battle of belief against disbelief”
Thomas Carlyle
