The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri
Never before have I started a book and after I was about 25 pages in, have I gone back to the beginning to read it with more precision. But The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri deserves a detailed read. A story of two brothers bound by tragedy. Their stories...more
Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt
Such a great book. I laughed, I cried. I cried quite a bit actually.

I loved the friendship that developed between June and Toby and the way they shared their grief and kept the memory of Finn alive between them.

I'll be on the lookout for more novels...more
The Panopticon by Jenni Fagan
This book was great! But it doesn't pull any punches. It's raw and it felt real. From the author bio: "Jenni works as a writer in residence in hospitals and prisons." I think she definitely pulled from that experience while writing this book.

Great book. I hadn't read anything like it. The premise is new and interesting. It's scary without any paranormal elements at all.

I'm really looking forward to book 2 in the series!

If I hadn't known this book was meant for young adults when I started it, I might not have ever known. It's dark, layered, and reminded me of a Stephen King novel.

There's none of that love triangle, damsel in distress stuff that is prevalent in a lo...more
