Third Grave Dead Ahead by Darynda Jones
“But give up my business? The same business I'd built from the ground up with my own two hands and designer Louis Vuittons? The same business for which I'd sacrificed blood, sweat, and tears? Well, maybe not sweat and tears, but there was blood. Lots of blood. Give it up? Not likely. Besides, what else would I do? I totally should've gone to Hogwarts when I had the chance.”

“Sure am glad I'm not royalty," I muttered. "I wouldn't want to have to bump uglies with someone I can't stand. On a regular basis. And no one else."

"Ow!" I exclaimed, trying to yank my fingers from Trent but finding them caught. Then I colored, realizing what I'd said. "Oh… sorry," I stammered, meaning it. "That was insensitive."

Trent's frown turned into a sly smirk. "Bump uglies?" he said, eyes on the table behind me. "You are a font of gutter slang, Rachel. We must do this again.”
Kim Harrison, For a Few Demons More

The Lost Art of Hiding Among the Dead (Literature & Fiction)
1 chapters   —   updated Feb 21, 2011 11:26PM
Description: Sara Braunfeld, at 18, doesn't want to remember. She likes her life as is. She was adopted by a nice Jewish family who took her in when she was a lost 15-year-old, living in New Mexico with no name and no recollection of her childhood. She lives with them and a few foster kids in suburban New Jersey. Having to hide her second nature as a werewolf is hard enough. Sara knows that if she can't remember her past, there's got to be a very good reason for it. But no denial can help her when bits and pieces of Sara's life prior to her turning 13 start seeping back into her mind. Just going through life seems to attract unwanted attention, the attention of the man she once thought of as her father, and who is the head of a powerful and ancient vampiric household seated in New York City. A household that tried to kill her when she was 13, framed a rival household for her death, and raised a war in her name.
