Good, but not great. Has a few moments where the narrative excels, but for the most part, the magic of the earlier (but later in the chronology) books is largely missing.
Jessie (Ageless Pages Reviews) is on page 175 of 484 of Dissonance: The worldbuilding could be clearer and I don't like Del at all very much, but I can't stop reading.

This book is made of FEELS and FLAILS and chills and epicness.

I sped through it in just under 18 hours, with 8 of those unable to read. It is GOOD. It is sprawling and can take time to get some momentum, but no one creates a fully realized world lik

This was such a solid, good, entertaining series. I love Rose, and I love Rose and Lissa's friendship. Dimitri ain't too bad, even if I did have a different male favorite. Hellllooooooo Adrian my love.

Lovely and well-written, but I can't rate such a short story with so little depth more than three stars.

Even for GRRM.

Ann Aguirre
“The ship shudders as we make the leap, passing into grimspace. Pleasure spikes through me, as if I'm taking a hit of my favorite chem. It sings through my veins, echoing the mad whorl of colors outside the view screen. If I had to describe it, I'd say it's like entering the heart of a dying star.”
Ann Aguirre, Doubleblind

Rosamund Hodge
“You deserve all that and more. It made me happy to see you suffer. I would do it all over again if I could." I realized I was shaking as the words tumbled out of me. "I would do it again and again. Every night I would torment you and laugh. Do you understand? You are never safe with me." I drew a shuddering breath, trying to will away the sting of tears.

He opened his eyes and stared up at me as if I were the door out of Arcadia and back to the true sky. "That's what makes you my favorite." He reached up and wiped a tear off my cheek with his thumb. "Every wicked bit of you.”
Rosamund Hodge, Cruel Beauty

Rick Yancey
“But if I'm it, the last of my kind, the last page of human history, like hell I'm going to let the story end this way. I may be the last one, but I am the one still standing. I am the one turning to face the faceless hunter in the woods on an abandoned highway. I am the one not running but facing. Because if I am the last one, then I am humanity. And if this is humanity's last war, then I am the battlefield.”
Rick Yancey, The 5th Wave

Amy McNamara
“I came here because it's pine-dark and the ocean is wild. The kind of quiet-noise you need when there's too much going on in your head. Like the water and the woods are doing all the feeling, and I can hang out, quiet as a headstone, in a between place. A blank I can bear.”
Amy McNamara, Lovely, Dark and Deep

R.L. LaFevers
“Truly, we are the gods' own children, forged in the fire of our tortured pasts, but also blessed with unimaginable gifts.”
R.L. LaFevers, Dark Triumph
