We are quite relaxed and have very few rules. Here's the deal: I tried some other groups here at GoodReads but either I didn't like the vibe, or their rules (some groups kick you out for not participating enough!) or didn't feel welcome and comfortable. So I decided to try to get a group of my own going. And here we are 6 years later! This is a fun, social, no-pressure group and I hope you enjoy being part of it.
This is a casual and laid back group of friendly, easy-going women readers with a variety of tastes.
Each month there are usually three categories to choose from. Sometimes we have polls to vote on books, authors, topics, etc. You can read one of the books for the month, or all of them, or none.
An ongoing feature we have is a "Member's Choice" read for the month.
It's been fun to: read the same book; discuss it as we go; challenge ourselves to read books we may not have otherwise chosen; and of course, expand our "to-read" lists as we hear about books from other members.
I always welcome input and suggestions.
Who is this group NOT for? only a select few: men; MEAN GIRLS; authors who are self-promoting, and women who try to come off as super scholars, and try to put down other group members for not being nearly as intelligent or worldly as they are, this is not English class.
Effective 2.1.13, we will no longer promote author's or member's books. Please do not ask me. There are plenty of other groups for that so please do not do that here. However, if you are an author who wants to join a great group of readers, without pushing your own works, please do join us!
Please do not start a new discussion unless you have contacted me and I have given you the OK. The exception to this of course, is under the Buddy Reads folder.

Do you love reading challenges?
Do you live for competition?
Do you have a hard time deciding what you want to read next?
Or do you simply enjoy discussing books with fellow readers?
Each season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) presents a new challenge with a series of reading related tasks. Each task is assigned a point level and then it's up to you to decide which tasks you'll attempt (or if you want to try to finish them all!) and then find and read the books that fit. It’s a fun way to stretch your reading radius and discover new books, authors, and genres. But be careful…it’s addictive! Your to-be-read shelf may never be the same!
Begun by Cynthia in The Next Best Book Club, the SRC has grown through the participation of its members. To find out more about how the Seasonal Reading Challenge works, and how YOU can be a part of it, check out The Seasonal Reading Challenge Explained and Getting Started....more

Start the challenge by creating a post with the title of your challenge. After your post is created, file it in the appropriate folder based on your username. Use that post to add your books as you finish reading them. (See the How to post a new discussion topic thread for a more detailed how-to.)
There is a weekly question (posted on Fridays) to stimulate conversation among us 50 book people.
This group is a place for support, recommendations, and discussions! At the end of the year we'll have a thread for people to post their read lists.
Start now! The goal is to read 50 books in a year. We have fun!
