| Wow. Really really really enlightening. Surprising to find that Siddhartha isn't the Buddha himself (as I know him to be, along with many others) but just a Brahmin's son, who is on his own path to enlightenment. I was raised a Buddhist myself and th...more | |||||||||||

For some reason, I though this was going to be amazing. But it was just okay. It wasn't a bad book and it was written rather well-ish. You can tell that Susan Hill is trying to go for Gothic-horror. She tries, and its a good attempt.

Rating Clarification: 2.5 stars. Disappointing and predictable, this Gothic ghost story isn't a patch on the classics of the genre such as Henry James' The Turn of the Screw. The writing is uneven and the author fails to keep the su... " Read more of this review » |

I was suppose to have read this book in school I believe. But I didn't, so I've only just read it now.
Well, I've learned that Thai young adult fiction is dull as. Though the story itself has so much potential, seeing as the story takes place in Ban...more |

A perfect book to be read on this rather dull and grey Monday afternoon in one sitting. Alessandro Baricco's "Silk" is a little treasure of a book that reminded me of Margaret Dugras "The Lover" lyrical, moving and exotic at the same time. I wouldn't...more |

“None of those other things makes a difference. Love is the strongest thing in the world, you know. Nothing can touch it. Nothing comes close. If we love each other we're safe from it all. Love is the biggest thing there is.”

“We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already.”

“There are things in this universe that we cannot control, and then there are the things we can. . . . Let fate, coincidence, and accident conspire; human beings must act on reason.”

“The strange thing was, he wanted to like everyone. He just couldn't find a way to do it.”

“Arthur is no fit king. Uther's bastard, Merlin's pawn, he is lowborn and a fool. He is wanton and petty and cruel. A glutton and a drunkard, he lacks all civilized graces. In short, he is a sullen, ignorant brute.
All these things and more men say of Arthur. Let them. When all the words are spoken and the arguements fall exhausted into silence, this single fact remains: we would follow Arthur to the very gates of Hell and beyond if he asked it. And that is the solitary truth.
Show me another who can claim such loyalty.”
― Stephen R. Lawhead, Arthur
