As a memoir, this one is certainly fast-paced and reasonably well-told so that I couldn't wait to see what would happen. Unfortunately, as Ms. Shandler wrote her memoirs some 60 years after WWII, there were not as many details to answer all the questions I had. However, I think we should be happy she wrote her story at all.

I agree with one reviewer who also wondered what happened to Shandler's name that it changed from Bollegraaf (http://www.abcbookworld.com/view_author....). Did she remarry after Ernst passed away?
