I loved this book. It was one that I was sad when I finished. It is a very good perspective on race relations in the 1960's from the perspective of the colored women who are hired help and their white employers. It is told from the view of two of the maids and one white woman. I really enjoyed it. (less)

This book was fascinating to me. I had some friends who loved it and some who hated it so I was intrigued to read it. While I did not agree that it will be "The Pilgrim's Progress of this generation" as the cover predicts, I did read it in only 3-4 days (while on vacation). It was not life changing but it did give me things to think about in how I view God and spiritual things. Very interesting book. (less)

This book was interesting. I had no idea what this book was about when I picked it up. It was recommended by a friend on Facebook. It was an interesting mix of fantasy and adventure with many mentions of the classics. The characters moved through time and literature as the evil "Hades" threatened to change some of the great works of literature by entering into them as they were happening. Throughout the entire book I could not decide if I liked it or not but I kept reading. By the end I was into it and have requested the second book in the series from the library. (less)
