I wish all my problems were as easy to wiggle out of as Dan Brown makes them seem ... I hate how Brown saves his main characters with miraculous 11th hour slights of hand. In Angels and Demons, he has the hero parachute from an airplane with a t shirt and miraculously live to tell the tale (suuure) and here he has a seemingly drowned character emerge from --not a tank of water - but a "suspension chamber" filled with air/water? What the heck?

That said - it is a cool intro to the Masonic roots of my new hometown (DC), and a big shout out to my office building, which has a cameo in this book! All in all, a perfectly fine vacation read.

I love love Kathy Griffin and this book only reaffirms my glowing feelings ... she is truly the hardest working woman in show business. Such a cute collection of shocking stories, sweet family memories and hilarious anecdotes. If you're a KG fan - or loooove Hollywood gossip - it is a must read.

surprisingly good, considering how much i wanted to hate this book. picoult reminds me of dan brown, only she is a better writer who (at least with this book) writes about less interesting stuff.

Can't tell if I would have liked this more if I read it before Three Junes (Glass' other novel, which I LOVED and will continue to reread until its little binding breaks in half). The author clearly likes to write about certain themes - the tension between siblings who choose different life paths, alienation from family, AIDS ... while these were woven together beautifully in Three Junes, this book seemed more awkward - and the characters were far less loveable. Disappointing.
