<about>I'm a recent college grad slowly reminding myself that it can be rewarding to read serious books for fun, even when you don't have to. Of course, this doesn't stop me from also reading quite a bit of mindless fluff, mostly space opera, for which I confess an unrepentant weakness.

I promise I don't give every book I've ever read five stars - it just seems that way. I do, however, rate books based on how successful they are at being what they are supposed to be. Space operas can get top marks for being fun and a little thought-provoking, but a book that tries to be Deeply Profound Earth-Moving Literature is going to have to deliver a little bit more to get the same marks.

While I've certainly read many more books than are on my "read" list, I'm using GoodReads to track what I've read since I joined, and I'm trying to review every single book as I read it. Trying to add everything I've read ever in my life to the "read" list was just too daunting.</about>
