Love, destr...more When Black City finished with that epic ending I was biting my nails for months waiting for Phoenix to arrive in my hands and it was worth the wait. From High school students to full blown action heroes! Phoenix is like a whole new level. Love, destruction, gore and heartbreak. Life has gotten worse in Black City. Purian Rose threatens Natalie's life unless Ash votes in favour of Rose's law- a law that will send darklings and other dissenters to a deadly concentration camp known as the tenth.

I haven't felt so emotional reading a book in a long time. This book is defiantly not for younger readers. This skilfully crafted novel contains some mysticism, mystery, intrigue, sex, epic fight scenes, humour and romance in a neat package that is not just entertaining but challenges your mind and imagination. Elizabeth has created word images so vivid that it is almost like watching a movie. She takes you for a ride through The United Century States as Ash and Natalie find themselves in a action packed suspenseful events.

I was hoping that we would learn more about the world outside Black city and boy do we! We meet sexy new characters for example Elijah! I won't give much away but I can tell from reading Elizabeth's novels she likes to take risks and those risks pay off tremendously. Twists and turns are what Elizabeth's writing is about. I find myself always on the edge of my seat. You don't know who to trust where to look or what your feeling because her writing takes you on a roller coaster of emotions.

The plot is amazing Ash can't bring himself to trade Natalie's life for those millions of Darklings. The only way to save everyone is to escape Black City and find the Ora, a powerful weapon that could take down Purian Rose for good. I grew a serious hate for Purian rose and Sebastian. Elizabeth has a knack for drawing so much emotion from her books that makes the reader feel so passionate about her novels and it's characters.

Once again Elizabeth has blown me away and as I sit here after reading this book with tears running down my face I've realised that this book is one of the most heart-renching emotional YAs I've read in a long time. I need the third book NOW.(less)

Imagine a wall keeping you separate from another race of beings? Never meeting them never will know them. But what if you do meet one of them and fall in love? Fall in love with a Darkling one that can drink your blood, have wings purple eyes and all sorts of unnatural things.

I first opened the book and was sucked in. Why? Because it was straight into the action and had such an awesome scene. Elizabeth Richards isn't afraid to be gruesome, A big dystopian, bloody, gory, sexy, hellish Romeo and Juliet is one way of describing this epic novel

So let's start with how epic this plot is! So original hints of relation to world war 2. You may think BORING but NOOO far from it. Emotional scenes, the book is such a page turner. Imagine your heart doesn't beat. But imagine meeting someone and your heart starts beating for the first time.....

I've never read so much sexual tension in a book it's so tremendous. Elizabeth has a Knack for making horrible things into something so beautiful. Like I said previously their are some relations to world war two e.g. concentration camps for "The Darklings" having to live in ghettos and wear wrist bands to show they are Darklings. I found this whole concept fascinating! From all the YA I've read this defiantly works. Love has never been more amazing in YA when reading this novel.

Soon as you think you've seen it all Elizabeth smacks you in the face with something new. Every time I think about certain characters such as Sebastian I keep thinking of the songs that would suit them! I don't usually do this but this book brought it out for me and for Seb "No churches in the wild" by Jay-Z and Kanye west suited very well go listen.

I love the two leads relationship. Ash and Natalie. I found their love/hate relationship addictive. I loved the fact it switched between the two characters. I never got tired of reading the scenes between these characters! Elizabeth takes you to a place that challenges your imagination wit forbidden love and screams at you through the page.....literally.

I love how she describe the surroundings. You literally felt like you where there breathing in the black Ash as the characters do. It was almost like watching a movie. I think this story is a lovely new take of what it means to love someone, first love, first experiences and not following the rules.

This book is one of those books that gives me goose bumps. I can feel it! The Darklings are going to take over the YA world. And I can't "fragging" wait.(less)

So kaylees back! And back with a vengeance. This series just gets better and better with each book I think Rachel Vincent couldn't write more and more and it would never get old

This book out of the whole series defiantly had me crying the most! Sometimes happy sometimes really sad. But I will say this is my favorite out of the whole series and this is why:

Through out the whole series since the beginning in typical YA style I thought Nash and Kaylee were going to be together "forever" yes they would have some heart ache but they would end up together eventually happy ending and all that. But Rachel Vincent took a spectacular risk (like I mentioned in my previous review for if i die) and Todd was brought into kaylees love life and changed it completely and I am so glad. A lot of people were annoyed but boy I was excited.

Love, excitement, death. Blood, sweat and tears are only some of the words I can use to describe the brilliance of this book. I never get tired of reading the scenes between these characters! Rachel takes you to a place that challenges your imagination and screams at you through the page.

Todd and Kayley are as amazing as ever. Their relationship develops and the way Rachel writes their scenes you truly believe that this relationship was meant to be. I couldn't help but cheer for them, cry at their best moments and at each scene they had I had a romantic sigh from within.

Also Sabine. You know some people didn't take to Sabine but I will say that you really start to like her in this book. Rachel has shown Sabines kind side and you start to really enjoy when shes in a scene she's turning into a very likeable character!

The plot is amazing. It thickens and gets deeper. Questions are answered beautiful scenes are happening and heart ache has never been more prominent. from the amount of detail to the amount pages. I think its descriptive and effective. Rachel has created word images so vivid that it is almost like watching a movie. She takes you for a romp through kayleys not so alive life with a team of Mara, Reapers and banshees and finds themselves in a action packed suspenseful event with the evil Avari that had my heart facing and had me excited from beginning to end.

I could say so much more about this book but I would probably talk spoiler after spoiler. iIl leave you with this: there are only a small amount of series that I've fallen in love with, without getting bored and this is one of them. I feel like I had a great amount of years with these books and I thank Rachel for bringing Todd Kayley and Nash into my life..... But I'm just not ready to say goodbye. I don't think I'll ever be.(less)

You ever look at a book and prey that it's something you've never read before. A story they can take you to a magic, tremendous, incredible, original world and make you not sleep for days because you want to finish it? well then The Gathering Dark By Leigh Bardugo will for fill that prayer.
I had not heard much about this book before I received it. The summary sounded interesting and nothing like I had read before. It was defiantly the case! This book is spectacular. I first opened the book and was sucked in. Why? Because it was straight into the action. Mal The Tracker, Alina the Map maker and the incredible dark "The Darkling".

The plot is amazing. The once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee. I think the amount of detail put into this story is mind blowing. This book makes you want to be part of it. It makes you want to be a Grisha. Wear their beautiful Kefta (a colour coded coat they wear) live in the grand little palace and be part of a troubled world that you hoped you could help. I loved the whole being part of a faction so to say for example you could be a Map maker, A tailor, a Fabricator. It's amazing to read about all the different and awesome things they do and what Colour cuffs represent them.

I think its descriptive and effective. Leigh has created word images so vivid that it is almost like watching a movie. You can feel the heat and the cold, You can smell the smells and feel the emotion through the words. I have never come across a book where actual Darkness is the villain in this novel. Because of this I was on edge through out. I loved the characters. Alina is such a brave character that I could not help but love and im sure you guys will too, Mal the best friend of Alina who is so brave and so loveable. And then the Darkling. He has a lot of mystery that you cant help but want to find out and when you do there will be shocking reevaluations.

I can use one word to describe this book and that is "powerful" powerful because its original. Powerful because its eye catching. Powerful because it makes you feel all the emotions that are mentioned in the English dictionary, And powerful because Its made me have a whole new out look and something to look forward to in the future of YA.(less)
