This review is also on my blog, Geeky DC.

I have always loved rain. There's just something in its pitter-patter on the sidewalk, the petrichor it leaves, the wistfulness it brings about.

As so, it surprised me to know that someone named Rain would hate

DC is finished with Monster: Set in Europe in the late 1980s (note: fall of the Berlin Wall), Monster talks of the story of a brilliant brain surgeon who saves the life of a special kid. I found it particularly enjoyable how dramatic and mysterious the entire affair is. So many questions unanswered, and so many emotions touched. Brilliant start to a highly rated manga about who (or what) makes a monster in the real world.

A reread, but a good one. The pain is still fresh, and the ending is still such a great one. The blood, the tears, the passion - all amazingly brutal, but the self-sacrifice? Oh, sublime.
