And I guess I'm proving him right by writing this review, but I can't help notice that I'm not buying a copy of his book now, whereas I otherwise would have. But Anderson's larger point is that digital goods inexorably fall to free, so it's time to get over it and use it to your advantage. As in The Long Tail, he does a good job of laying out the phenomena, explaining the economics and history, and providing some anecdotes along the way. But in both books I was ultimately somewhat underwhelmed--perhaps because I think so highly of Anderson and his ideas (and I'm a longtime wired fan)--I just don't get the "a-ha moments" or great stories that I do from say Malcolm Gladwell or Steven Pinker. So if you're interested in Free and how it's changing the world, this book makes it quite clear. It just fell short of blowing my mind, which is what I was secretly hoping for.(less) "
