This book is about the past histories and stories of our founding fathers. These include the notable George Washington, James Madison, Alexandar Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson and more. These characters are almost fictional because of the way the author talks about them. He writes off them in a careful manner, not to expose too much but tells enough about their actions.
The book is a collection of six stories each which details important parts in American history. One of the chapters is about the famous duel between Alexandar Hamilton and Aaron Burr. The chapter focus on the nature and personalities of each of the two and focus on what politics ideas were at the time. Other chapters include the problem with secession, the rivarly between Thomas Jefferson and Madison and more.
I think each chapter is powerfully written to show how this country was formed with the great minds and actions of our past national leaders....less

I decided to read this book because of what I have heard of the book. I think the book is a good example of exposing the inner side to any complex thing. People, when they hear and see the military always think about toughness, strength, power and reward. Yet, they do not see a lot of what goes behind the scenes. I think that Anthony Swartford was brave in that he was one of the first to succesffully show what happens.
This book is mainly about warfare and what goes on inside the war. A lot of pain and suffering is created and a lot of bad habits are formed because of the coping that must be done. A lot of slurs and comments are used constantly and over because it is a quick way to express feeling and meaning.
I think this book shows that no matter what, war is not something good. It takes away and it makes the soldier a different person. People are changed by war forever....less

Friday night lights is about a football team whose town bases it's pride on. This team is a powerhouse and is usually ranked near the top in their town. However, this year is marked by doubts because of the lack of success the team is currently having. The coach and the players could have a personal life story that revolves around the main focus, high school football.
Reading the book, I can see that a lot of energy, determination, interest, love and much more were placed into the football scene. Everyone followed the football team to a certain extent, with many fanatic parents and town supporters at their sides. Just reading the book makes me want to be a part of what happens because of my love for sports. I think that playing the sport is only half the fun, the other half is seeing how things are, and what the scene is.
Reading this book, a person would think that it is a fun and harmless sport. But, they are exposed to what goes about inside, such as poor grades, peer pressure, egotisical showings, figts and much more. This book can be motivating because it places the team as a main underdog. ...less

The scarlet Letter is a book that is considered to be one of the most famous books of literature. The story is not very complex but the way the story is written and its ideas that run deeper are. When reading the book, I found that it was hard to follow at times. The author, Hawthorne, would simply go on about things that had little importance to the chapter I was currently reading. I was a times discouraged by this book because it was long and it was on top of doing many assignments that required a strong knowledge of the book. I did not stop but merely pressed on and asked for help when I was confused.
I noticed that the charactization of Hester Prynne is one that defines what Hawthorne sees women to be. He sees them as strong and able. Hester is rebellios and is unwilling to give in to her current state. She is also able and shows that she can break societal norms. Lastly, above all, she is a women of moral, she shows this in her honestry and care for those around her later on. These three traits of Hester show how a women can be and how they are equal memebers of society.
At times, the story was interesting because of periods of confusion leading to periods of strong understanding. ...less

This book was on my summer reading list because it was a required reading. I found that although this is a required book, it is also very interesting. I found that I could relate the mentality of the young girl because she was always curious about things. For one, I was very curious about things and used to ask my father a lot of questions. Through this method, I learned and became smarter.
The book is about a young girl whose family is new to America. They learn to adapt to the country but still keep their cultural roots. The family struggles, the young girl's father has to look for a job on a frequent basis and her mother is tough as nails. Though, they have very little, the girl makes use of what she has. This shows that the American dream can be fullfilled by another. The book chronicles the events in the girl's youth. She struggles, is smart but is forced to sacrifice because of her current state. The family is held together by love and that is what the girl learns. She grows up and fails along the way but she learns to be successful in pursuing her dream.
The literal summary is simple but there are many symbols. The symbols include love over anything, strength in times of pain, adapting to new conditions, keeping hope and finding a dream no matter how hard it is. ...less

I wanted to read this book because I was interested in how training can have a impact on playing a sport. With all the science and methods that are now available, it can be hard to really focus and train correctly. A sport requires a lot of physical attributes that can help a person play well.
The book hosts a series of chapters that discuss different components of training. Some aspects include weight training, balancing, vision training, and has a chapter devoted to physical tests. The book really helps you target your weaknesses and tells you how to train smart and effectively.
I think this book shows that a person can benefit from knowing more. There is always more to learn and seeking advice on something can really help.

The Old Man and the Sea is a book about trail. The Old Man happens to be a person who has met his match in strength and age. He was once a well reputed fisherman and has been through many ordeals. However, in this current state, few people respect him and look at him as finished. However, he finds hope in a task that has been avoiding him for the past few months. He has been on the hot pursuit of a large fish, a sail fish of great size and beauty.
This fish symbolizes a lot about the old man. The fish shows a wide range of symbols including young age, power, beauty, respect, life, trail, strength and more. Making this is final goal, the Old Man wants to finish where he has started. He does fortunately, find some hope and respect from a young boy. This boy looks up the old man and really cares for him. He still thinks of him as a great fisherman.
Before the book is over, a lot is revealed about life, about how hard things are, and how hard someone must try to achieve it. Ernest Hemingway really makes this a must read by making the sole task a very difficult one, one of great porportions. ...less

I actually choose to read this book because I am a huge Lebron James fan. Lebron James is one of the biggest basketball stars in the NBA today. He is different because of his immediate success from high school. I wanted to read more about his life and what he did before he became a star.
The book is divided into different time periods. Each time period talks about a different thing, such as Lebron's childhood, his parents, his high school career, his first basketball tournament and much more. Basically, this is a biography which chronicles different phases that are important. Lebron was different from the surrounding players because he was so physically developed at a young age. He seemed to be much stronger, faster and more athletic that his peers. He was able to dominate at any stage and virtually carried his team. I think the book also shows how strong Lebron was in addition to his skill. He was able to remain humble, nice and become a even better person. Many players who accomplish a lot happen to lose it or fade because of their ego. Lebron supplements his success with extreme dedication which is why he is where he is today.
I think this book is a good example of what it means to work hard and to not take care to what you are already given. Working hard is something that everyone should do no matter what success they have....less
