This is a very easy read and enjoyable - not deep and not meant for anything other than distraction. And what distraction - the sex is explicit and nonsensical and the characters all have very earthy, amoral, irrelevant lives. Even the 'kidnapping/murder' at the center of the book is inane.

I gave this four stars based on the content and importance of the book. It was a very slow read because of the level of detail the author uses to drive his point home - and drive, and drive, and drive. If you're ready to be impressed and learn something new about our collective history, then this is a great book.

This was a very interesting view of relationships and the valuable separateness we feel even when we're trying hardest to come together. I liked the emphasis on opening the need to keep some independence and perspective.
