It gave me a new appreciation of the horror of war in the Pacific and the ghastly price the US and Japanese would have paid had there been an invasion of Japan itself.

Chilling nonfiction about the most secret and vast collection of information ever undertaken, in large measure as a reaction to 9-11.

As second novels go, it is marvelous. Very insightful into post-
Stalinist Russia and the failed Hungarian revolution with wonderful account of survival against the odds and devious plots. Brilliance is author's hallmark.

Another brilliant book. I loved the whole series. Again powerful themes of redemption.

I almost put this on my classic-literature shelf. It is an amazing book--as a mystery, as an account of Stalinist Russia, and as a story of the struggle of redemption it is absolutely first class.
