This is an honest, heartwarming, humorous and--at times--painful account of an idyllic childhood and unfulfilled adulthood. Bradley takes us in many emotional directions in this debut memoir, offering whatever glimpses he can--whatever glimpses he laboriously uncovers through the very writing of the book--of a strong but weathered mind and heart, insuring we are carried along with him, powerless to assist, as he is buffeted by life's ebbs and flows. A practiced critic might point out that the novel seems, on the whole, inconsistent..lacking the projectile cohesiveness of a persistent style. A fellow reader might retort that the novel merely reflects those life inconsistencies we are all forced to face. Honest. Applicable to everyone's story in one way or another. Certainly a helpful roadmap to the Baby Boomer generation.
