five stars for the first half of the book, three stars for the second half of the book.
amazing prose, a first paragraph that is up there with the top ten first paragraphs of novels ever.
what could have ended up darker became convoluted and tedious deeper into the book. we were on our way to being very disturbed, but that just turned out to be filler.
definitely worth the read, prepare for a lame hollywood ending on what could have been a masterpiece.

great premise executed well. a huge relief after a lot of crapola i've read over the year. personally, i would've went a little darker, but that's just me reading it as a writer....what currie has done is some decent stuff.
