It took some time to get into, but once you get over that first hurdle the book has all the good stuff. Love, adventure, mystery, and good (mostly) triumphing over evil, with some "what is evil anyway" type stuff thrown in. Some things may be a little confusing if you're not already familiar with some basic Myst ideas though. Yes this is a book written (sort of) from the computer games.

Another in the Circle Opens Quartet. Daja was always one of my favorites among the four kids, as her fiery nature speaks to my own. A wonderful and chilling exploration of what it means to be a hero, and the fine line between a hero and a monster.

The first of the Circle Opens quartet. I loved the whole thing. The way Sandry has grown as a character, the idea of "unmagic", all of it. My only regret is that I don't own it. Yet.

I love the way her universes both keep expanding to accommodate new characters and new stories. Not as solid a character as the stars of some of the quartets, but an enjoyable read from my favorite author nonetheless.

Definitely some interesting ideas in this book. It's easy to tell this was written some time ago, but many of the problems and solutions he discusses are still very relevant. I did find myself chafing somewhat at the husband-directed tone of most of the book. I understand that much of the material is written for husbands, and that Bradley designed his system to integrate husbands into the whole birth experience, but much of the way the book is written feels like Bradley sees the men as the rational, thinking, educated member of the team, whereas the wife, who is actually living inside the body going through the experience, is the animal; emotional, reactive, and mildly to extremely terrified.

I want my partner to be involved in the process when I eventually have children, and I agree that a husband, being there throughout the entire experience of life and making the child and so forth, is uniquely qualified to support me. But I think this experience more than any other has to be a partnership, a team, rather than "coached".
