In Divination class, Harry Potter’s lesson was to learn about the talons and tealeaves. From this lesson they will be able to learn about what will happen in their future. In Harry’s cup, the shape of the grim was formed by the tea leaves. The grim is an omen of death. The shape of the grim is in the form a bear or wild black dog and it was seen in the Harry’s cup with tea leaves. J.K Rowling incorporates foreshadowing because Harry sees the dog but the dog is actually Sirius Black. Harry mistakes him for the grim and tries to kill him. Ron panicked at every dangerous thing that Harry had said. On the other hand, Hermione was intelligent and brave. She admired harry but she would “scoffed” if Harry told her about the Grim. Hermione came up with thoughtful explanations about the Grim and how people were killed. After seeing the Grim people would die of fear. Thus, the Grim was a cause of fear, and it was the thing that killed the witness. But Harry thought the other way around and he was helpless and soon he would die. Harry saw the grim almost everywhere he went. After Harry ran away from the Dudley’s house he saw the Grim and it escaped after the Knight Bus came out of nowhere. He also saw the Grim when he playing a Quidditch game he witnessed the grim. The grim was Sirius Black watching Harry play Quidditch. Harry saw the Grim when Ron was pulled into the Shrieking Shack by a black dog. Harry knew that he was dead from there. When he enters he finds that the black dog is Sirius Black. Harry wants to murder him but he realizes that Sirius Black isn’t a serial killed. He is Harry’s good Godfather who really cares about him. I developed an interpretation after gathering the information in the book accompanying the information of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I think that the Grim can be seen as the foreshadowing of Sirius Black’s death in J.K Rowling’s fifth installment of the Harry Potter series. Harry wasn’t killed by the Grim however, Sirius Black represented the Grim and he died from being “The Grim form” as an Animagus.(less)
