Putting on my Mr. Science hat... Tabasco chile sauce would have no effect on vultures. All birds lack capsaicin receptors, they can not feel the burn from chilies, unlike mammals.

The phantom Sandy Island was mentioned in two of the books I read recently, The Girl from Everywhere and ???. It's so wonderfully odd, like when someone randomly speaks a word just as you read it. I adore strange coincidences like that!
