oh and one other major thing I did not mention- I have many many books I want to read and so I am just going to read! The main thing the challenges has done for me has gotten me back to reading very voraciously. I was letting teaching take away my personal reading time. Now that I have that back, I want to slow down (a little) and set my own goals.
I know the point is not to finish, but something in my personality won't let me accept that readily. LOL

I finished 15.2 Blonde Roots. I thought the premise (reversal of the slave trade so that blacks are the masters and whites are the enslaved) was provocative and the book was downright poetic (and also gruesome) at times. As for the question- the world would not be a better or worse place if the events had occurred as re-imagined in this novel. I think it would be just another variation on the world we currently have because according to the novelist all of the treatment was the same in her version- just against whites. I guess one major difference would be cultural differences- example it is referenced many times in the novel that voluptuous figures are preferred in the society as opposed to size 4 women. So I guess it would be different in terms of the things that are considered "American"
