This book tried too hard to be clever and self-referential, and lost me in the process of congratulating itself for being so very smart. I found the characters very annoying in this book - especially in the first half, in which the protagonist is moping incessantly. I realize it's targeted at tweens but oof... I don't know if I'll read any more of the series.
