This was a good book. The subject matter was just very raw which made me a little uncomfortable reading it. So, I can't say that I loved it. You really feel the protagonist's pain and suffering as a hermaphrodite. If you are looking to read something thought-provoking, this would be a good title to consider!...less

I read this book when I was a child and never forgot it. But, I did forget the title of the book. So, I scared the daylights out of a large group of people at a bookstore in Southern California when I happened upon it there as an adult. They probably thought I was mentally unstable. Nope. Just overjoyed to find a book that I thought was forever lost to the memories of my childhood. If you like young adult literature, it's worth a read. It's an interesting parable on not succumbing to peer pressure....less

"This book is a must read as it's the first of its genre, true crime. Once you read it, it's then worth watching the film Capote. But, I wouldn't recommend watching the film before reading the book.

I only read historical romances. And, even then, I read them rarely because there has to be something that intrigues me about the book. I bought this book at the airport and quite enjoyed it. I liked the characters and the development of the romantic climax (no pun intended).
Having never read a Julia Quinn book before, I had no preconceptions. But, after scanning some of the other reviews, this appears not to be one of her best efforts. So I look forward to checking out some of her other works....less
