Bella, our heroine, spends most of the book either pining or over-reacting. Perhaps in the context of "Yo, vampires are real, glittery and will eat your face," some of the over-reactions are understandable, but come on! I suppose I could have just forgotten what it's like to be an irritating and burdensome teenage vampire fangirl, which is why this book is also on my new list: "Inscrutable teenage protagonists that somehow defy well-deserved gory vampire face-eatings."

That said, it really is an attractive travel piece for Washington. "Come see Washington: it's wet and crappy except for the vampires and werewolves."(less) "
