Jennifer Jennifer said: " Just started the audio. Thus far I can confidently make two statements:

1) The writing is really, really good.
2) It is oddly disconcerting to read a novel set in my town in the present day.

"I'll finish this some day when I need a good cry. Really enjoyed the beginning on audio, but I got interrupted and haven't gotten back to it." Jan 06, 2016 08:02PM

Funny and interesting, but the author's voice was a little too 'dude bro' for my taste. Sexual assault and exploitation ain't funny, dude, even if you're using it as an analogy to illustrate natural or man made catastrophes.

David Sedaris
“Every day we're told that we live in the greatest country on earth. And it's always stated as an undeniable fact: Leos are born between July 23 and August 22, fitted queen-size sheets measure sixty by eighty inches, and America is the greatest country on earth. Having grown up with this in our ears, it's startling to realize that other countries have nationalistic slogans of their own, none of which are 'We're number two!”
David Sedaris, Me Talk Pretty One Day

Elizabeth Peters
“Marriage, in my view, should be a balanced stalemate between equal adversaries.”
Elizabeth Peters, The Mummy Case

Joan Bauer
“My grandma always said that God made libraries so that people didn't have any excuse to be stupid.”
Joan Bauer, Rules of the Road

Albert Einstein
“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
Albert Einstein

François Mauriac
“If you would tell me the heart of a man, tell me not what he reads, but what he rereads.”
François Mauriac
