This one probably really deserves 3.5 stars, but I gave it the bump up just to be nice. It made me want to buy a GMT watch and learn how to use a sextant so that whe I get lost at sea (it's probably going to happen), I'll be able to figure out exactly where I am. It must have been a cool time to live in when a guy could spend the vast majority of his life building a handful of perfect clocks and actually change the way that people moved around the world.

This is a pretty badass story about men in a time that's long past. I'm pretty sure I've never met anybody as hard as the guys in this book, which is sad. This made me want to go read Moby Dick.

I wish I could give this one three and a half stars, because I like it better than 'Never Let Me Go', but not enough to give it four stars.
Stevens is a good enough narrator, but I think he mostly just bored me in the end. Yes, I understand that he's flawed and it's sad that he's such a thick old dude, but he just wasn't my jam.
