"wonderfully fun, but e-galley is virtually unreadable -- a PDF of the print galley, I think, emblazoned with PROOF across every page, which makes my e-reader think it is text, so every two pages, it spells out PROOF, giving each letter its own page. Very slow going. I might have to dock points on that." Jun 05, 2013 05:37pm

Audra (Unabridged Chick)'s Recent Updates

Jane
Jane is on page 42 of 487 of Divergent: Um. This process is supposed to promote peace? And yet when you transfer to a new faction your old one sees you as the enemy. And...supposing there was a group who decide that wars are caused by our tendency to form factions? I would call them the Sensible.
Jane
Jane is on page 66 of 487 of Divergent: People jumping off ledges, eating hamburgers, no old people, piercing a and tattoos - hey, Dauntless = freshman year at college!
"love the bookplates idea!! That's awesome -- then I can save myself the lugging! (Heather, I would lug if I wasn't going to a work conference first!)"

Jane
Jane is on page 23 of 487 of Divergent: OK, that test is rubbish. If you've spent the first 16 years of your life being conditioned by spending all your time in a community that values certain traits, your responses will be altered by that conditioning.
Jane
Jane added a status update: I see that the BBC is airing an adaptation of PG's The White Queen.

1. I am always infuriated by how few BBC programs get to America.

2. Why this one? There is so much better HF out there.

3. I'd still watch it if I could, see 1. Just because I like costume drama.
Audra (Unabridged Chick) added a status update: So I'm going to be at the Historical Novel Society conference next week and want to get author signatures but would rather not lug two dozen books in my luggage. Any ideas for a clever way to get signatures? (Or do I just get an autograph book?) Incidentally, my wife thinks I should lug the books along!

Alas, this book wasn't for me, and I quit about one hundred pages in. While a unique premise, I wasn't sucked in for a few reasons.

Set sometime in the future, the US as we know it is gone. Instead, it is a series of regions dominated by, essentially,...more
