Mom hated this book ~ and there were a few aspects of it that I didn't love. But I really enjoyed this book, especially Gilbert's perspective and honesty on religion and her search for God. The entire read was relaxing to read and very well written. Many parts felt as though she were describing experiences I've had while others were intriguing and still others where just way off base. Very good....less

"Entertaining fluff, but not my favorite Kinsella novel. The main character was just not that loveable.

This one did not feel as organic as the love story that developed in the first three stories. There seemed to be some inevitability in the events for Bella and Edward, yet it was all entertaining and enjoyable to read. I did feel like some things parts were forced to tie up loose ends, but I felt satisfied at the end....less

The Host started so very tediously for me and I wasn't sure it would take off, but finally it did. I enjoyed the sometimes character studies of archtype personalities that everyone identifies with thrown together and how they clash or meld. In the end, it turned out to be a decent sci-fi book that celebrates humanity. It's no Eclipse, but it was pretty good....less

This is an in-your-face book about veganism. The authors try to get their point across through some crude language and I don't care for their style of writing - they rely on trying to be humorous through sailor talk than thoughtful eloquent persuasion. But I have to give it five stars since the book club standard for a five star rating is "changed my life." I also credit other books I've read leading up to this point, also, like The China Study. The first change I made was giving up caffeine cold turkey, which was a huge vice, and now I've been Diet Coke free for four weeks. I also decided to avoid the artificial sweetners. Finally, after some "discussions" with Jason, I've been eating a vegetarian diet - really, borderline vegan - with the understanding that I'd try it for a month and then decide what level of crazy to adhere to. I've been eating vegan for about three weeks now except for girls' night out. Now I am reading Slaughterhouse to remain motivated....less
