I go with my gut, I pick a book (and will continue to do so, while they exist) look at the back flap and if it interests me, regardless of the genre, nationality, style, popularity and whatnot, I'll take it. This one was one of those books. A friend had already recommended Stefan Zweig but when I chose this book I didn't recall the author. I chose it for the simple story it told.

From the first page until the last, it took me just three days to finish and I can confidenly say that it has been many years since I bumped into such beautiful literature. It is not heavy although it is sad, it isn't boastful, it's humble, it's tragic and heroic, it's too many things that made me consider purchasing it (most books come from the library).

Now I'm off to some more Zweig and so far it is not disappointing(less) "
