Well, I thought it was going to be better than it was. I have to say, after reading this the only thing that came to mind was that someone like this guy, Neil Gaiman got popular not because he is such a great writer, but because he plays the game well: He's a good speaker, a good representative of the publishing industry and he has a little flair that makes him seem like a rebel... his comic book past and black leather jacket. He could just as easily be wearing a tie and blazer and I might appreciate him a little more for the honesty.

The book did almost nothing for me. I found it lackluster and didn't really open any new doors for me. It seemed like it was preying on the already well-accumulated idea that the world is changing for the worst. Oh really? As if we hadn't noticed that!

I would pass on this one, sorry.

I just finished this book, like I just read the last words and I was really, really surprised at the ending. I was choking the tears back. It's crazy how people who have been through the craziest situations end up projecting that in their lives, so true. This book is like reading a poem really, not only because of the way it sounds, like the words and all, but the meaning of the book is so deep. When the main character showed up at the Miami airport dressed as a priest and started kissing the gilr, who was dressed as a catholic school girl, I was like, oh my god, this has gone over the deep end. And then he starts talking about constellations and confetti and orange nights all because of his innocent daughter dying. He was really suffering, but in a beautiful, deep sense. I'm flipping through the pages now and realizing that the whole book is just setting up the ending and I didn't even realize it. Really impressive, really like artistically saying something. I loved it, but in a sad kind of way. Definitely recommend it.
