This book was totally Bitchun. :D

Doctorow has this great eye for sociology and politics. This and Little Brother really affected me in disturbing ways. Before this book I had never heard of the term adhocracy, and yet the term dates back to the 70s (even firefox thinks it's a typo). Adhocracy is happening all across the net, forms the backbone of most open-source projects, and is infecting the corporate world as well (the agile methodology is a great example of this).

It's great that people are still writing sci-fi utopias (not just false ones, either). The concept of the Singularity is definitely fueling this upshot in crafting of the ultimate society.
