Thank you!

A lot of this book is things that I've been saying for a while about some of the limitations of the "locavore" movement.

But the author takes it even farther, and brings up some issues I hadn't ever thought of. Recommended for anyone who's t

Really enjoyed this, even though I'd heard some of the ideas in her interviews and shorter writings. A lot of this is common sense, but it is really important to put the modern style of parenting into historical and social perspective.

“Kat gushes about Google's projects, all revealed to her now. They are making a 3-D web browser. They are making a car that drives itself. They are making a sushi search engine -- here she pokes a chopstick down at our dinner -- to help people find fish that is sustainable and mercury-free. They are building a time machine. They are developing a form of renewable energy that runs on hubris.”

“After that, the book will fade, the way all books fade in your mind. But I hope you will remember this:
A man walking fast down a dark lonely street. Quick steps and hard breathing, all wonder and need. A bell above a door and the tinkle it makes. A clerk and a ladder and warm golden light, and then: the right book exactly, at exactly the right time.”
