One of those romances that, without being in any way distinctive, is just a good, satisfying read. It's the last in the Kenyon family series (also known as the "Rosebud" series) and doesn't feel quite right as a stand-alone; although none of the Kenyon family actually appears until the end, they are so important to the heroine (who loves them) and the hero (who hates them), that it feels a little as if background information is missing, even though I don't think you will learn significantly more about the characters or situation from reading the other books first. There are a few implausibilities, too. Still, an overall enjoyable story for those who like Regency romance with a touch of mystery. (I actually hate mystery plots in romance, but this one wasn't too intrusive, or as glaringly obvious as usual.)

Oh, the doing and undoing. She rejects him, then changes her mind. He rejects her, then changes his mind. Lather, rinse, repeat. He sails away then comes back. Then sails away and comes back. Everyone's against them, then everyone's for them. On and on, ad nauseum. I felt some for the characters, who were in a truly difficult situation, but the book overall was repetitive and tiresome.

Research psychologist marries, after one meeting, a widower with two troubled children. Why? To stop her crazy sister from thinking she's having an affair with her brother-in-law. Of course her crazy new husband immediately assumes she's having an affair with her brother-in-law. One of those mindbogglingly implausible plots you'd only find in a Harlequin, full of WTF? moments. But a pretty good read if you enjoy Jordan's particular brand of whack.

I'm pretty sure this is one of those Harlequin Presents that were originally published in the "Modern Heat" line: it's mostly a standard contemporary romance, though with a few odd little Presents-like touches here and there. It's a work romance--both the hero and the heroine are surgeons, though you'd never know it from the blurb--but he's also got a title and is bitter over the woman who done him wrong. The heroine also has some major ghosts to exorcise, including very nasty associations with upper-class men. There's a bit more info-dumping about injuries and surgical procedure than I found really interesting, but it's a nice read, with nice characters.

Edited to add: No, not "Modern Heat"--"Mills and Boon Medical Romance." That explains the more-than-I-wanted-to-know medical info.
